Amsterdam’s CoinFest 2017 celebration: The 46th edition of Bitcoin Wednesday will be held in Amsterdam on 5 April, 2017.

Rik Esselink
Session Chair

Rik Esselink will serve as Session Chair for Bitcoin Wednesday on 7 June 2017. He was also Session Chair for Bitcoin Wednesday's CoinFest edition on 5 April, 2017. He has been an active member of the Amsterdam blockchain community for many years. He is the former Marketing Director at Philips, and is currently helping foreign companies establish their presence in Europe.

Eyal Hertzog, Product Manager of Bancor
The Business Cases for Digital Currencies

Eyal Hertzog is co-founder, Chief Architect and Head of Product Development of Bancor. An experienced consumer Internet entrepreneur, Eyal has raised over $100m from leading venture capital firms, including Accel, Benchmark, Polaris, DAG Ventures and Highland Capital. Eyal founded Contact Networks, one of the first social networks, in 1999, and Metacafe in 2003, a pioneer in online video with over 50 million active users at its peak.

Dominic Williams, Chief Scientist of DFinity
A Blockchain with Infinite Scaling

Dominic Williams is CTO of venture-backed crypto-technology incubator, String Labs, Inc. He has a similar role at the DFINITY Foundation, which raised $3.75 million in about 24 hours in mid-February 2017. The DFINITY blockchain aims to offer a decentralized cloud computing platform with infinite scalability that will be completely interoperable with Ethereum apps.

Fundraising with Blockchain Tech

Guy Benartziis CEO of Bancor, which aims to make it easy for anyone to launch their own Ethereum-based cryptocurrency. He was previously CEO of the multiplayer game company Mytopia. He has been active in the sector since 2012 and has helped introduce numerous local currencies.

Jeff Garzik's company Bloq is specialized in open-source blockchain solutions for the enterprise.  He has been an important contributor to Bitcoin software since he learned about the project in 2010, and is one of the best-known developers in the entire industry.

Rikiya Masuda is European Branch Director of bitFlyer, currently Japan's biggest Bitcoin exchange. Before coming to bitFlyer he worked for seven years for Japan's second largest bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

TAAS: Tokenized Closed-End Fund

Dimitri Chupryna is co-founder of Token-as-a-Service, a venture based on the Ethereum blockchain that is designed to allow investors to participate in the rise of Blockchain markets without the technical barriers and financial risks associated with trading cryptocurrencies.

TAAS recently launched its crowd sale on 27 March 2017.

You are invited to join us once again for this upcoming edition of Bitcoin Wednesday, including another program revolving around the important recurring theme of blockchains and cryptocurrencies in Dutch society. As you’ve come to expect, networking will be at the heart of this event: run into your old, familiar Bitcoin Wednesday friends and colleagues and tell stories about the early days; meet the newcomers and share your ideas about the future. After a number of thought-provoking conference presentations, there will be ample opportunity for networking at the bar.

Mark your calendar for the first Wednesday of the month so that we can raise a toast together to the increasing role of Bitcoin in Dutch society. Please take note:

  • Bitcoin Wednesday is an accessible event for anyone who has interest in blockchains, digital currencies or related technologies, a great chance to meet other like-minded professionals, and exchange ideas in an informal atmosphere.

Mark it down in your agenda; join us on the first Wednesday of every month. The conference itself usually begins at 19:00, but we gather earlier at the bar for networking.
