NEW LOCATION: Crea Music Theater

This month’s Bitcoin Wednesday will be held in a historical monument at Nieuwe Achtergracht 170 in Amsterdam.  This building was the site of the city’s oldest diamond polishing factory and was recently converted to a cultural center and theater by The University of Amsterdam.

CreaCreaOriginally erected in 1845 as the Diamond Polishing Company, the factory was a cooperation of 51 jewelers, which held a monopoly in the industry for several decades.  The juwelers replaced horse power with the far less expensive steam, and hired no employees, electing instead to rent out their modern polishing equipment to individual diamond workers.

The renovated interior has an industrial chic with flashes of silver and gold that might be an inspiring setting for a conference about digital currency.
