Bitcoin Wednesday celebrates its 3-year anniversary on 6 July, 2016 at EYE with a reception, workshops and presentations.

Prediction Markets: Uses Cases and Components

Stefan George is the technical co-founder of Gnosis, which is one of Consensys’ portfolio companies.  Stefan’s talk will cover two critical aspects of prediction markets, its components, including market makers, analysts and oracles, and its use cases, from price discovery to decentralized autonomous governance.  He will show how prediction markets help to make decisions.

Oraclize.it – Providing Centralized Data to Decentralized Apps

Thomas Bertani is a founder of Oraclize.it, a service that cryptographically verifies the accuracy of data to be used by smart contracts on the Internet.  He will give a presentation about the challenges of providing such information to applications on the blockchain and will demonstrate some useful smart contracts that he has made, ranging from decentralized insurances to reputation systems.

Decentralized Autonomous Organizations: Where Do We Go From Here?

Dominik Zynis is an advisor for Wings.ai a platform to create and manage DAOs based on both Rootstock and Ethereum smart contracts.  He currently serves as Head of Communication for blockchain incubator, ChainLAB, and previously held a similar role for the Mastercoin/Omni Foundation.

The European Parliament’s Resolution of 3 May 2016 on Virtual Currencies and Blockchain Technology

Nikolas Guggenberger is policy advisor to Jakob von Weizsäcker, the European Parliament’s rapporteur on virtual currencies and blockchain technology.  He will make a presentation and lead a discussion on the content of the resolution as well as its regulatory suggestions.

Generation Blockchain: Introducing the Blockchain Education Network

Dean Masley is the Executive Director of the Blockchain Education Network, a nonprofit organization that represents Bitcoin and Blockchain clubs at more than 150 colleges and universities around the world.  He will talk about crossing the enthusiasm gap and how young blockchainers can make an impact as this emergent industry takes shape.  Dean will also announce the formation of the national chapter of the Blockchain Education Network for The Netherlands which will be hosted by Bitcoin Wednesday.  Read more.

Future Scenarios: Innovation of the Financial-Monetary System

Martijn Jeroen van der Linden is one of the leaders of the citizen’s initiative that successfully brought the debate about our monetary system to the floor of the Tweede Kamer in March 2016.  He is a researcher at TU Delft’s department of Economics of Technology and Innovation.  In 2014 he gave one of the most interesting talks in the history of Bitcoin Wednesday, and we’re honored to have him back for our 3-year anniversary.

New Solutions for Blockchain Scalability and Performance

Bas Wisselink, a board member of the NXT Foundation, will talk about new solutions for blockchain scalability and performance, implementations of bundling and pruning, to be released in the upcoming “Ardor” Blockchain Platform.  Nxt has been one of the pioneers in the industry and has a market cap of $21.5 million as of June 2016.

You are invited to join us once again on 6 July, 2016 for Bitcoin Wednesday, including another program revolving around the important recurring theme of cryptocurrencies in Dutch society. As you’ve come to expect, networking will be at the heart of this event: run into your old, familiar Bitcoin Wednesday friends and colleagues and tell stories about the early days; meet the newcomers and share your ideas about the future. After a number of thought-provoking conference presentations, there will be ample opportunity for networking at the bar.

Mark your calendar for the first Wednesday of July so that we can raise a toast together to the increasing role of Bitcoin in Dutch society.

Bitcoin Wednesday is an accessible event for anyone who has interest in digital currencies or the related technologies, a great chance to meet other like-minded professionals, and exchange ideas in an informal atmosphere.

Mark it down in your agenda; join us on Wednesday, 6 July at 18:00. The conference itself begins at 19:00, but we gather earlier at the bar for networking.

Pre-conference reception and dinner (cash bar, Bitcoin accepted): 16:30 – 19:00 at A-Lab (next to EYEFilm).

Walk-in at EYEfilm from 18:00 on.

The conference itself kicks off at 19:00.
