Andreas Vlachos, Faculty at University of Nicosia

Andreas Vlachos

Andreas Vlachos is a faculty member of the Master’s program in Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia.  He will appear at Bitcoin Wednesday in Amsterdam on 3 February 2016 with his colleague George Papageorgiou to discuss the incentive structure of Bitcoin in relation to the current block size debate.

Andreas is a Research and Training Assistant for the Master’s program of Digital Currency at the University of Nicosia.  He is conducting research on Bitcoin adoption worldwide, and is the only Cypriot student to participate in the Master’s program.  He obtained a BA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Kent in the U.K.  After hearing about the Bitcoin concept he became a big fan of digital currencies.  In his quest to learn more about it he took the University of Nicosia’s MOOC while completing his undergraduate degree.

He supports the opinion that Bitcoin will disrupt the payment systems of today just like E-mail did for snail mail.  He also works as a sales and marketing manager for Vlachos Investments Ltd. a company that owns and rents commercial and residential real estate in Nicosia.
