“Financial Regulation and Digital Currencies — A Necessary Evil or Just Evil?” by David Goldstone

The 29th consecutive monthly edition of Bitcoin Wednesday held on 4 November 2015 features David Goldstone QC, a founding member of the UK’s Digital Currency Association — the UKDCA, the UK counterpart of our Dutch Bitcoin Foundation (stichting Bitcoin Nederland).

David’s presentation is titled “Financial Regulations and Digital Currencies — A Necessary Evil or just Evil.”  David is a senior commercial barrister at Quadrant Chambers in London and belongs to the UKDCA’s Regulatory Working Group. In that capacity he drafted submissions for the UKDCA to the New York Department of Financial Services regarding New York States’ controversial “BitLicense” regulations.  He has a Libertarian background and has been involved with digital currencies since 2011. His talk will address the merits (or otherwise) of financial regulation both generally and more specifically in the digital currency context.
