Blockchain Use Cases: Pharmaceutical Industry

During Bitcoin Wednesday’s conference on 6 March, 2019 Galen Evans, Co-Founder and CTO of the Berlin-based blockchain venture studio, Konfidio, will give a presentation on delivering blockchain-based solutions for the enterprise.  Galen led the team who implemented a private Ethereum blockchain for a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company.  The solution was built to help the company manage contracts with their IT service suppliers; it is currently beyond the proof-of-concept stage, and is now being deployed by the organization.

Galen will present this solution in detail and talk about the underlying technology stack as well the business and technical challenges of the implementation.  He will share his own perspective on the adoption process by enterprises and explain his views on enterprise business cases that he believes are most promising for blockchain-based projects.

Before becoming the CTO of Konfidio, Galen worked at EY as a Blockchain Expert and a member of the leadership team of their Digital Strategy Practice.  He also handled strategic account management and business consulting for OpenGeo, an enterprise open-source software company.  He started his career with the World Bank, where he used open data and risk modelling to help developing countries mitigate risks of natural disaster and climate change.  Galen earned an MBA from Berlin’s European School of Management and Technology, the ESMT Business School and did his undergraduate studies at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
