Bitcoin Wednesday’s 6-Year Anniversary Edition on 3 July, 2019 will feature a presentation by Hjalmar van der Schaaf, CEO of the Blockchain logistics startup CargoLedger. He will give a demo of the solution during his talk.
CargoLedger was selected by the Port of Rotterdam’s PortXL World Port Accelerator program. It has deployed several working systems for a variety of customers, including a SAAS solution and a stand-alone one.
CargoLedger allows data to be shared safely and easily from any place and at any time. It enables all changes made to the blockchain to be transparent, and the data to be practically impossible to delete.
We reduce paper and old IT hassles and increase efficiency and trust through a simple blockchain solution. Then, when we tag cargo with either a sensor or a QR-code, our system allows the receiver to scan the tag and verify and validate the conditions. If the delivery passes the test, our system can also arrange for an instant payment to effectively manage the risk and cost of doing business.
This approach streamlines the compliance process and communication between stakeholders. Our solution automates EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) in transport and supply chain via smart contracts in order to reduce the time, money and complexity involved in modernizing the traditional logistics processes.
Hjalmar founded several Internet companies and served as both a tech consultant as well as a program and project manager for Telfort, KPN, Liberty Global and Dexia Bank. He also worked for Optiver on the development of their automated trading and international exchange infrastructures. His first job was with Deloitte on a logistics project digitizing waybills.
He is married, the father of 3 children and enjoys playing guitar in two bands in his spare time. He earned a diploma in Business Information Systems at the University of Amsterdam.
