Profile Folding Coin

FoldingCoin is an incentive for bitcoin miners to send computing power towards medical research instead of the Bitcoin blockchain. This computing power is used for Stanford’s Folding@home, to fold proteins and find cures for diseases like Parkingson’s, Hartington’s and many forms of cancer. This initiative is currently responsible for about 10% of the total computing power of Folding@home, equal 10% of the computing power of the second largest grid network in the world. FoldingCoin Inc is a registered non-profit in the U.S.A.

Robert Ross, Founder and Director

ross

Robert Ross spent 8 years as a structured cabling specialist.  During this time he specialized in installing data centers for large pharmaceutical companies and office buildings where he gained experience in dealing with employee scheduling, field management, project management, and IT administration.  He also spent 1 year as an IT administrator for a Red Cross chapter in Michigan.

After he discovered Bitcoin in 2013, Robert became heavily involved in the mining community.  Looking for a way to utilize all the legacy mining equipment that original Bitcoin miners often have, Ross started FoldingCoin which does something more productive with all the energy released by GPUs and CPUs.
