Ethereum Smart Contracts and The Blockchain’s Impact on Consumers

For Bitcoin Wednesday on 7 September 2016, Sander van Loosbroek will talk about how blockchain technology will effect the consumer.

Sander’s team at Cegeka has created an Ethereum-based smart contract application where the use of digital signatures gives consumers better contracts and benefits.  This solution paves the way for non-traditional payment solutions that are customer controlled, make use of cryptocurrency and could be covered by the European Commission’s revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) which was adopted last year.

Sander’s presentation will give a walk through the application and take any questions about how it was created.  He will also explain the road map for future developments.

Sander van Loosbroek is the director of Distributed Ledger Technology at Cegeka in Maastricht where he is currently developing several experiments designed to measure the advantages and disadvantages of using blockchain technology in both the private and public sector.  He began researching and realizing blockchain applications in 2013 and received an MBA from Nyenrode in 2014 with his thesis entitled “The Impact of Blockchain Technology on Financial Transaction Platforms”.  Before that, Sander was a founder of two startups in digital music distribution and event promotion.
