If you’ve ever read about Bitcoin in the news and found yourself wondering what it’s all about, Bitcoin Wednesday on 6 January 2015 will be a good starting point.
The evening will also include discussions for those who are completely new to the subject. Thomas Kemmere will provide an introduction to Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and the blockchain.
Thomas is the self-employed tech consultant behind Greenlight Consultancy in The Netherlands. He serves as an advisor in various capacities such as project manager, functional manager and trainer. He soon realized that people around him who only read mainstream newspapers have difficulty understanding the basics of cryptocurrencies. He also noticed that he enjoyed explaining and sorting out the misunderstandings.
Thomas says, “I decided to start a label under the domain BitcoinUitleg.nl and offer the option for organizations to invite me to present the essentials about a) Bitcoin, b) the blockchain, and c) cryptocurrencies. I like to bridge the gap between, on the one hand, the tech guys, the developers, and on the other hand, people who are not particularly technical but who surely need technology nowadays. I consider myself that bridge and like to do the translation.
In the case of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency that means I cover subjects like wallets, keys, anonymity, speed, how to get bitcoins, how to spend them, what to spend them on, mining, the media, Satoshi Nakamoto, alt-coins, the blockchain and challenges. I also take a good amount of time to answer questions.”
