Tom Keunen, Security Advisor for Civil Society Organizations

Tom Keunen, Founder of Protektor Services

One of the moderators of Bitcoin Wednesday on 5 February, 2020 will be Protektor Services’ Tom Keunen, a security advisor for civil society organizations.  He has been an active contributor to the digital privacy and cryptocurrency communities for many years.

“I always look at technology as a potential catalyst for change, and it is logical that these upcoming decentralized technologies would appear on my radar and spark my interest,” says Tom.

Originally from Belgium, but based in The Netherlands, Tom has worked globally for organizations such as Greenpeace, Oxfam Novim, Cordaid, Free Press Unlimited, the Center for Safety and Development and RNW Media.  He is a firm believer in a holistic approach to security management, and has trained with the United Nations’ Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS).  He integrates safety and security in both online and offline environments.  In his spare time, Tom can be found in a small leather workshop in his basement where he likes to disconnect from the world and reset.  He was previously moderator at Bitcoin Wednesday on 4 December, 2019.
