During Bitcoin Wednesday’s 4-Year Anniversary Edition on 5 July, Valerian Bennett, CEO of PopChest, will be here from Santa Monica to introduce his platform for community-supported video.
By the time the big guys in Hollywood like Spielberg, Coppola and Lucas get around to financing their productions with ICOs, Valerian will already be ahead of them. He has recently launched PopChest, which presents video with no ads, RSK smart contracts, and the soon-to-come POP Token. “No ads, no subscriptions,” Valerian explains. “We created PopChest so that viewers can support the artists they love and artists can directly connect with their most passionate fans.”
PopChest’s concept relies on Rootstock smart contracts to automate direct-to-creator micro payments in order to disrupt the advertising-based video distribution model. When the POP Token is released later this year, Valerian believes it will encourage more creators to publish their film and video independently since they will be able to get paid directly and own their own content indefinitely.
Valerian is a veteran television producer and editor and documentary filmmaker from Los Angeles. He earned a degree in film from the University of Southern California and has worked on television shows for MTV, E! and A&E, among others. In 2014 he released the documentary Bitcoin: Buenos Aires about the growing digital currency ecosystem in Argentina.
